Job Description

Full-Time 80 hrs pp NOC This position is located at the Behavioral Medicine Center, Redlands, CA. Job Summary: The Admin Charge Nurse, utilizes discretion and independent judgment in providing supervision and management of a team of licensed and unlicensed nursing staff during an assigned shift on a designated unit; collaborates with the leadership team (Nurse Manager and other Charge Nurses) to ensure continuity of care is provided from shift-to-shift, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; coordinates and oversees healthcare team that provides age-specific patient care where deems appropriate; consults with Nurse Manager to manage unit operations and human resources, evaluates assigned personnel fro clinical competency, serves as a resource to staff and provides direct patient care as needed; serves as a role model and provides positive influence to facilitate change; utilizes interpersonal skills to maximize customer service in a manner that supports excellence in customer service, safe patient care, and professionalism; contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. Performs other duties as needed. Job Specifications: Graduate of a school of nursing, Bachelor of Science of Nursing/Masters of Nursing for charge nurse position preferred. Knowledge of psychotropic medications. Knowledge of appropriate age group. One or more years med/surg, and, as applicable: One or more years in acute psych. of age group preferred. One or more years in chemical dependency/detox preferred. Supervisory experience preferred. Licensure, Certification, or Registration. Current and unrestricted California license; and, as applicable: Psychiatric nursing or clinical specialist certification preferred. Chemical dependency nursing certification or specialist preferred. Current basic life support certification. Basic clinical skills in delivery of nursing care in acute care facility. Ability to speak clearly in person and over the phone; ability to write clearly and concisely, ability to listen well and interact appropriately with other employees and outside agencies; ability to input data into computer; good eye-hand coordination. Ability to develop positive therapeutic interactions with patient, patient families, co-workers, supervisors, medical staff and outside agencies, maintains calm demeanor in crisis situations; communications clearly and effectively, delegates effectively. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to assess patients' conditions, interpret care plan, comprehend appropriate interventions, evaluate patient response to care, teach patients and families; requires higher level mental faculties accompanied by short and long-term memory; ability to concentrate on several assignments simultaneously; ability to edit, organize and prioritize; ability to work with limited supervision; ability to execute duties in an efficient manner with attention to detail; ability to receive and accurately carry out instructions. **If in a recovery program, at least two years of sobriety is required for staff and at least 5 years for Management.**
